Survey Earth in a Day is a FREE event for professional land surveyors and students of #surveying worldwide.
On the day of the solstice June 21, 2015, geospatial professionals around the world and members of Land Surveyors United (a global support network for land surveyors) will be simultaneously recording survey grade GNSS/GPS data from thousands of points around the globe, in order to promote awareness of and a better public understanding of the surveying profession. Measurements made on this day will serve as comparative data from prior events and to expand upon the database of logged points.
*The official form for submitting data will be live on the day before the event.
*RSVP early and promote the event on your own website to be listed among our supporters here: http://goo.gl/l17eO3
Survey Earth in a Day 4D is a great opportunity to come together once again as a global surveying community to gather data and increase public awareness of the surveying profession. It also provides a forum for teaching others about the significant contribution Survey Grade GPS is making in their lives and communities each day. Those new to GPS and the surveying profession will have an opportunity to observe local surveyors in action and learn more about the importance of the profession. The event happens to also fall on the last day of International Surveyors Week 2015

This will be our 4th year holding this global surveying event!
In a Nutshell
Survey Earth in a Day is a unique global surveying event in which any land surveyor or surveying student/professor with access to GNSS equipment can participate from their own location. So, the aim in so far as the participants are concerned is simply to survey the entire surface of the earth as a global community in a single day. Our terrestrial ground control points compiled will give us a network map which can be overlaid on top of any web map and at some places will show us greater accuracy than can be achieved with cell phone GPS.
From the perspective of the public, our measurements demonstrate the true importance of professional land surveyors to society as only a surveyor can measure with such high precision. In order to participate in Survey Earth in a Day 4D, you must have access to Survey Grade GPS/GNSS equipment and data collection device. We are interested only in data which can be acquired from devices which produce high accuracy results.
No Cellphone or other GPS device is acceptable.
All data submitted to Survey Earth in a Day will be post-processed using RINEX.
